Jet Blue Reviews
The Site: JetBlue.com

  • Jet Blue Airways operates out of 53 destinations in the U.S., the Caribbean, Bermuda and Mexico.
  • Popular destinations include Austin, Texas and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
  • 600 daily Jet Blue flights
  • Jet Blue Getaways – hotel and Jet Blue flight packages
  • All seats are assigned
  • All fares are one-way, and an overnight stay is never required.
  • Leather seats with extra leg room
  • Free seat-back TV’s 36 channels of DIRECTV®, and “JetBlue Features” which are first-run movies and free bonus entertainment, including behind-the-scenes footage from television shows, sneak previews of upcoming movies, and interviews with celebrities.
  • Free snacks on every flight Jet Blue Airways has been named Best Domestic Airline by Condé Nast Traveler readers for six consecutive years
  • TrueBlue® customer loyalty program: Members get points toward Award Flights every time they jet with JetBlue. Additional Terms and Conditions may apply

The Good: The ability to book fully refundable airfares is amazing. Most airlines do not allow this much flexibility. However, the Jet Blue Airways “refundable fares” can be a little spendy, compared to Jet Blue regular fares. If you want a refundable fare, make sure to select this option in the search box, rather than “lowest available fares”, and compare the price with the non-refundable fare. If the non-refundable fare is more than $100 less, this may be the best option for you, as it is only a $100 fee to cancel/change a non-refundable fare anyhow*.

The “True Blue” Jet Blue reward program is super easy to understand and keep track of. 100 points = free round-trip flight. Easy, right? You will typically get 8-12 points per round trip flight (and you may earn double points by booking your flight online at JetBlue.com). This means you may be able to earn yourself a free flight by just booking 5 round-trip Jet Blue flights online. You can also receive free points by applying to their credit card, similiar to other reward programs.

The Bad: We are accustomed to flights being automatically priced “round trip”. Remember that all Jet Blue Airways flights are priced “one way” and sometimes the return flight is not the same price. We would rather the flights come up “round trip” as the default, since the vast majority of travelers purchase round trip tickets. Also, the fares listed do not include taxes and fees. Those get added in after you select your exact flight. After we hit “select” on a flight from the deals page, we are taken to another page and are required to re-enter the search terms. This should be automatically added in for us.

The Fees *: $100 Cancellation Fee per person plus any applicable difference in airfare for regular non-refundable fares. Any remaining balance will be placed in a JetBlue credit and may be applied toward a future reservation for one year. If you purchase a “Refundable Fare” you are entitled to a full refund if you cancel up until the time of departure. If you no-show for your flight, you still will get a fully-transferable JetBlue air credit which is good for one year. *Based solely on research done by TravelSiteCritic.com.
