Our Editor’s Review:

Club Med Palmiye in Turkey is one of the best rated Club Med resorts out of them all.  If you’d like to stay a little closer to home, Club Med Cancun Yucatan is an awesome choice as well.   The ClubMed.com website has a great photo gallery of each resort.

We think the amenities that are included when you book a Club Med hotel are fabulous.   Not only are all of your meals included, but so are premium drinks, snacks and cocktails.  There are plenty of fun activities included too.  Sure, you can scuba, golf and play tennis, but have you ever tried the flying trapeze?   The kids won’t get bored, with Club Med’s extensive children programs for kids ranging from 4 months to 17 years old.   Traveling with baby?   Club Med has an awesome “Baby Welcome Program” where they will provide you with all the equipment you need to take care of your baby, including baby food.

On the downside, the ClubMed.com website is really busy and it is hard to determine where to begin.   There are 9 different pages dedicated to “deals” alone, it’s a bit overwhelming.  ClubMed.com could certainly streamline their website.  Also, the text on the FAQ pages is really tiny and hard to read.

After your first stay at a Club Med resort, you will automatically be enrolled in their loyalty reward program on ClubMed.com, “Club Med Great Members Program”.   If you have spent less than $8000* on ClubMed.com, you will be a “Turquoise” member, which doesn’t seem to offer very many benefits, if any.  The more you stay and/or spend at a Club Med resort, you may be upgraded to Silver and Gold status ($8,000 for Silver, $20,000 for Gold).  Once you are a Silver member, it looks like the most valuable benefit you receive is 10% off Club Med excursions.  Gold members get the added benefits of free transfers, complimentary upgrades and late check-out.   Hmmm… I’m thinking that if I’ve already spent $20,000 at ClubMed.com resorts that I would expect a few more loyalty perks than that.  There is only one Club Med in the USA, at the Sandpiper Bay, Florida.  We hope that Club Med opens more resorts in the United States, as we greatly lack all-inclusive resorts in this country.
