Aloft Hotels Reviews

Aloft Hotels are affordable “loft inspired” hotels by the Starwood brand, located in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, China, Thailand, India, South America, Europe and the Middle East.  Trendy hotels with lounges, simplistic European design, and 24/7 healthy snack buffets and pool tables.

USER EXPERIENCE

Perhaps we are not young and “hip” enough for the lingo, but at times they seem to be trying too hard.  They describe Aloft Hotels as the “the new tWistSM in travel“, and we were left scratching our heads…. what is “tWistSM”?   The Aloft Hotels mobile site is a nightmare.  It’s slow and we found it nearly impossible to book a hotel from the screen of our iPhone.  For a hotel brand that caters to the”young and hip”, we think they need to makeover their mobile site and consider an app.

PRICING

We found big discounts (40% OFF a second night) when we looked under the “offers” tab of the Aloft Hotels website.  Aloft Hotels are in the budget category, and do not have an on-site restaurant or full-service amenities.  The rooms in an Aloft Hotel are basic, and the hotels are designed with a communal feel highlighting local culture and nightlife, so this is likely why their pricing is fairly low.

FEES

There are no booking fees on the Aloft Hotels website.  There are 3 types of hotel rates that offer varying cancellation policies or rates:

  1. Reserve & RelaxAdvance Purchase Rate reservations are prepaid and do not allow for cancellation refunds.
  2. Book Now And Save – prepaid reservations and are subject to 1st night rate penalty upon cancellation up until 3 days prior to first night stay.  Within 3 days of reservation, no cancellation refund is available.
  3. Best Available Rate – reservations generally allow for full cancellations up until 6:00PM of first night stay.

REPUTATION

Aloft Hotels has an excellent reputation amongst their customers and Aloft Hotels got high rankings in a recent J.D. Power and Associates customer satisfaction report.

UNIQUENESS

Aloft rooms feature 9 foot high ceilings, platform beds, free Wi-Fi, 42? LCD TV’s, rainfall walk-in showers with Bliss Spa products, live events with in-house DJs, Wine Wednesday’s, and musical performances.  Aloft Hotels are part of the Starwood brand, so you can earn Starpoints for each of your stays which you can later apply to any other Starwood brand hotels, such as Le Meridien, Westin, or Sheraton.
