It focuses on hotel, bungalow, apartment and condo accommodations and also has a wealth of information about real estate in the area. Loco Gringo also gives a good overview of the highlights of the Mexican Riviera Maya.
Our Editor’s Review:
The “Loco Gringo” (crazy gringo) seems to have an overly self-depracating opinion of himself. There is nothing crazy about this site at all. We were easily able to find dozens of accommodations, ranging from budget hotels to five star resorts within minutes. They are categorized according to type of accommodation, price and location. Similarly, the Destinations Guide has a drop-down menu that took us straight to where we wanted to go. The description of Akumal Mexico got straight to the point and offered links for further information rather than burdening us with more than we needed all at once.
Fans of anything eco-tourist, we were pleased to see Eco Parks and Attractions under the “To Do & See” tab. We checked out the Jardin Botanico (Botanical Gardens) near Puerto Morelos and the text and pictures inspired us to put this 60 hectare eco park on our travel wish list.
Perhaps the most outstanding feature of this website is the Map Room and its aerial photographs that give a distinct overview (literally!) of the major tourist areas.
Although the accommodation listings included visitor ratings, we were unable to click through and read any actual reviews, so we will never know how genuine the ratings were. Not much else to say here, we are fans of this site.
Hi Pam, thanks for the insights. Always looking for ways to provide the best information. I know that some of the older browsers can be an issue like IE 6. Thanks for the great comments!
Cheers!

Hi Kay! Well, I just clicked on some reviews on a property on LocoGringo.com, and I had no difficulty whatsoever reading it. I’ll ask our editor who wrote this review where he had problems with it, and perhaps we will need to revise. I am using Google Chrome as my browser, so it may act differently in other browsers. I really think your site is great and wish you the best!
Hi thanks for your feedback on our site. I have a question. About the reviews, they are mostly from verified “buyers” people we booked. Some are past clients of the rentals. I wanted to see what issues you had with the reviews and the challenge you had in reading them. We just started using this software a few months ago. We had not had any comments on it, so your input is important.
Muchas Gracias
Kay
