Michael Hodson, the “mobile lawyer” is the creator of Go, See, Write. Michael writes about and photographs all the places he went to and saw (hence the site’s name!) during the 16 months he spent traveling the globe by all available modes of travel except airplanes. Currently residing in Colombia, Michael also writes about and photographs his more recent adventures in that country.
The Good
We’ll start with Michael’s photo journals, because we think he has an exceptionally keen eye for detail. We especially loved the photographs in his Barichara and Guane, Colombia collection. Now we’ll move on to his Third World Begging blog. This was hands-down the most insightful, thoughtful and honest blog we have ever read about the touchy subject of whether or not you should give money to beggars and street kids selling trinkets. In our opinion, it should be required reading for any traveler going to a third world country. We also liked his interviews with other travel writers, especially the one with Keith Savage of Traveling Savage – another blog we raved about awhile ago. We’re tempted to go on with other examples, but hopefully this is enough to inspire you to visit Go, See, Write.
The Bad
Do not click the top page tabs for Michael’s articles… instead, click the links in the drop down menus. We thought much of his site was under construction because many of his main pages read like outlines of what’s to come. It’s all there, but the way it’s set up, you might miss it. Michael, please correct this! We almost missed 13 Reasons Why Everyone Should Travel because we clicked “Tips” before we clicked “Travel Tips Posts” in the drop down menu. Tip #12: To Experience Unadulterated Joy is our choice for the best reason to travel we’ve ever read. We also loved the accompanying photograph of the Zambian kids dancing and smiling. It would have been tragic to have missed it.
