Do not go by Expedia's advertisement lowest fare guarantee. Only suggesting legal action was I able to get ticket money back for my step daughter at no charge. They do not honor what they print as Hotwire was cheaper. I found out they are sister sites. Expedia is a bait and switch site. Stay clear of their guarantees.

I think the whole buying or trading for points is a scam. Yes, they provide the transaction fees up front but they are so ridiculous that it does not make sense even for a distress sale. We should have a site where we can exchange with a nominal fee. The exchange or sale rate is left to the individual selling/buying which is similar to the eBay concept. Wonder why these big guns of business cannot understand simple marker mechanics.

Expedia's customer service is horrendous! After being a loyal customer for many years I will never use Expedia for my travel needs again. That is a decision after spending almost 6 hours on hold! I had a room booked for $260 a night for 2 nights that on the hotel's own webpage was only $216 a night! After confirming the deal, but keepng me on hold for so long to fix a mistake that the first Expedia customer service operator made the site seemed to be sold out when the operator clicked through to the final page, this was of course hours later! When I got off the phone and called the hotel direct of course the deal was still available. The best rate guarantee is a waste of 6 hours and no deal at all. NO THANK YOU EXPEDIA!!!!! After tax $499 compared to expedia $587

I had a totally positive experience with CheapCaribbean and with their customer service representative. My best friend and I were leaving from two different cities, so we could not book online. We called and the rep connected us so all three of us could be on the same conversation. He walked us through our options, provided a little more insight into the hotel options, allowed us to debate the pros and cons of pre-paying for transfers and other optional services. The vacation came off without a hitch and the resort was everything we had hoped. The food was good and we had plenty of options as to what we could eat and when. It was like a cruise experience on land. We are both frequent worldwide travelers, so we can be quite discerning (i.e., bitchy!) when things do not go well. The Cancun experience exceeded our expectations. The ONLY hiccup for me was flying Spirit Air. I am not a bug fan, but it is cheap, and it was a direct flight. So, tradeoff on time vs comfort. We found CheapCaribbean through the recommendation a few of our other world traveler friends. Based on their recommendations, and our own experiences, I would definitely book through CheapCaribbean again.

I didn't have a good experience with Hotwire. Must admit, I didn't understand I was going to be locked into a reservation - okay, my fault. But the Sonesta Resort Hotel, Maho Bay, Sint Maarten didn't live up to the star rating. I was charged twice for the 2 nights lodging. The hotel staff had no idea how to handle my Hotwire reservation and the fact that I had already paid $387 for two nights. So was charged an additional $306 upon checking out. AmEx card is handling the dispute. The check-in was 50 minutes and check-out at the Sonesta was 40 minutes. Good people at the desk, but major systems problems. This hotel should have had a 2 star rating on Hotwire.

Do not book with Cheap Caribbean.
They are not only NOT RESPONSIBLE for any issues you may have (which is the only thing you will hear from their customer service) but they actually make it impossible (or at least very $$$$) to fix the problem yourself. Need to change a flight, they will charge you above and beyond what the airline would charge you-significantly) in order to do this. And, you cannot contact airline directly-they have to do it!!! No assistance for bad hotel, missed car pick up. They will tell you they are a "travel wholesaler" and have no responsibility to you the traveler. Too risky to book through Cheap Caribbean. Too much left to chance-any problems whatsoever and any minor savings booking through them is lost-and generally more expensive.

Also as an aside-as a frequent traveler-I have never had an airline make flight changes so egregious. Going from a 1 hour layover to 10 hour layover when comparable flights are still listed as available on the website?!? Is it possible the airlines know they can give Cheap Caribbean fliers the shaft because they cannot change flights? Not worth it.

We booked tickets through Airfare.com after Kayak shows it as lowest price. Now we have to reschedule them to different dates and Airfare.com has such horrible customer service that even after 3 days of request, still no action. One of the travellers is an infant who does not have a ticket, they still want to charge for it. Every agent tells a different story on how to change dates and it just adds to the stress of travelling. I am not sure if we will even end up with the tickets. Not worth at all. Airfare.com also charged us extra for paper tickets and those never arrived, when I called I was told that the policy changed and now they issues etickets. I will never use them again.

I'm having an issue with Vayama that I'm hoping gets resolved by emailing David. We booked tickets for June from SFO-LHR via Vayama on Virgin Atlantic. Unfortunately I need to make some date changes, and expected that there would be Vayama and Virgin fees. However, Vayama has told me that no changes at all are allowed. I called Virgin and was told that of course changes could be made for a $200 change fee per ticket. I got the Vayama rep and the Virgin rep on a conference call and the Vayama rep was defensive, rude, and kept telling the Virgin rep that the ticket was not changeable as a result of Virgin's rules! I'm not sure what is going on but I'm caught in the middle and truly believe that Virgin must surely know their fare rules better than Vayama. I've already spent 5+ hours on this, and really need to get it resolved. I will post an update once I hear back from David.

I have done so many online bookings before and have never been asked for that! I have cancelled my booking with them, and awaiting my refund.

Price line is a joke I have used them to purchase tickets in the past, this time I purchased a one way ticket home from fl to MI through airtran, airtran waved the fees but not price line, with all there fees it cost us twice as much for the ticket home for my sister who had to cancel because of a medical emergency. Price line wanted documentation of the medical emergency so we faxed it to them and they still did not want to waive the the fees that basically wipes out the voucher for the original flight. We talked to three different supervisors who promised to get back with us and they never did we had to keep calling them. I will never book anything through price line again, I will pay the extra money and book through the airline for now on.

Hotwire is the worst online travel booking site ever! Service people are rude and the booking is not cancellable right after booking. They just keep the full amount right away even without taking the trip. Hotwire does not have any communication with the local rental car/hotel if anything changed and caused huge confusion.

We (my family) were scammed by bookit.com. You should NOT do business with them! On Monday (1/9/12) my husband was looking for our spring break vacation online. He came across a deal on Bookit.com that would have given us 7 days and 6 nights at a beautiful resort. He was amazed at the resort and had me look at it the next day. The price was perfect for us…we decided to book it! We told our children and everyone was super excited. Then I received a call from Bookit.com saying they were sorry but the price they quoted us and that we booked at was not available. They said they were going to cancel our dream vacation. I asked them what it would cost. They said they are unable to even get us in at the pictured resort and that they can maybe find us something somewhere else. I said I want the vacation that I purchased! They will not do it. I think it was a bait and switch scam. They wouldnt let us talk to a manager and said I had to cancel or my flight cost (2000!) wouldnt be refunded. You have been warned…go elsewhere. You know its bad when the agent who called us said, “Well, thats the risk you take purchasing a vacation from an online source!” Thanks Jessica….nice advice.

A technical error in Vayama's system canceled my flight and I had no idea about the cancellation until I called them the day before my flight. Although they refunded my ticket they offered nothing as compensation for the error. I tried calling them back but they denied any responsibility. Definitely not using Vayama ever again.

Hotelplanner screwed up my hotel reservation and refuses to do anything about it or provide any sort of compensation. After many days of back and forth with them, they offered me a "$30 off next purchase"--the terms were January 3-2011 through January 3, 2012.

And this "offer" was made late in the day on January 3, 2012! In order to give them the benefit of the doubt, I emailed several times to see if the offer could be extended?

They put a damper on what was supposed to be a joyous holiday vacation.

I will go *out of my way* to avoid booking through Hotelplanner again. They do not live up to their word and were miserable to deal with.

NO STARS!

I booked with Hotel Pronto yesterday for an event 4 months away, as this is my first ever booking of this kind I was naturally freaking out and reading reviews, hence stumbling across this site.

In my worried state I decided to call up the hotel I had chosen in London to confirm my booking, as it was so far away she said it may not have gone through the system yet and I may have to call back, but as I was put through to reservations I was informed my room had been booked, paid for and even a continental breakfast was provided.

If you are unsure as to whether your room is booked or not I suggest getting in touch with the hotel you have booked with to confirm and then reconfirm again closer to the date, which is what I will be doing.

My experience with Hotel Pronto was swift, the emails arrived instantly after payment and I got a fantastic price, and the venue is a 5 minute walk from where I'm staying. I am very pleased.

Hotel Planner has the worst customer service. We booked a 2 nite stay, the rooms were not as advertised (The place was a dump) we expressed this to the hotel staff, they apologized and said if we wanted to leave early there would be no charge for second nite. I called Hotel Planner and explained the situation, they said they would have to confirm this with the hotel, they did while I was standing at the front desk. It was explained to me by Hotel Planner I would have to check out before a refund could be issued, I did and called them back, they now said NO refund would be issued. I called American Express to dispute the charge.

Booked a flight for my fiance last night 23:30 MST. At 05:30 they send her an email saying they need more information. When we contact them they say the reservation was never made due to fraud reasons with Discover. That didn't stop them from charging the card. Just a BS reason they gave us. Long story short, finance was was in Indiana for a funeral, now because of Travelocity she is missing her 2 year old daughters Birthday and there are no flights available for 3 days.
