Otel.com hotel dealsThe Site: Otel.com
  • More than 9000 destinations worldwide with a selection of 55,000 hotels
  • Direct contracts with hoteliers enables Otel.com to offer competetive rates and great availability
  • Popular destinations include London and New York City.
  • Otel’s Best Rate Guarantee
  • Otel.com FivePlus loyalty program offers 5% Cash Back for return customers. FivePlus does not limit you to a particular hotel chain or brand
  • Detailed hotel and traveler information
The Good:
The Otel.com FivePlus loyalty program is really cool if you travel fairly often, or take a long trip.   You can very quickly rack up enough “FivePlus credits” to earn a free hotel night.   Every time you book a hotel on Otel.com, you get “FivePlus credits” equal to 5% of the hotel rate.   Let me explain….  Let’s say you stay in a hotel for 7 nights at $200/night.    After that stay, 5% of the rate becomes your “FivePlus credit”, or in this case it would be $70.   That means you get to take $70 off your next hotel booking on Otel.com!   Most reward programs take much longer and you need to spend nearly twice as much money to get $70 off.   If you choose, you could keep that $70 in your FivePlus account, and keep racking up credits until you have enough credits for a free night at any of Otel.com’s 9,000 hotels.   Which at this rate, it won’t take long.    Your FivePlus credits never expire.
The Bad:
We always like to filter our results “by price” which will re-order the list of hotels from the least expensive to the most expensive.   For some reason, when we would click on the button to filter hotes “by price” some hotels were towards the top that were more expensive.   Made our search a little more time consuming.   There is nothing else we can complain about here, as Otel.com is a great simple site with a nice loyalty program.
The Fees *:
  • Cancellation policy varies by hotel.
  • Otel.com does not directly charge a cancellation fee, however any charges by the hotel will be passed onto you.
  • Typically (varies by hotel) there is no charge for cancellations or amendments up to 4 days prior to initial check-in time.
  • Cancellations made within 4 days of the check-in date will be assessed a one night room rate, plus applicable taxes and fees.
  • No cancellations on or after check-in date.
  • No refunds for no shows or early checkout.
  • $0 for first amendment to a reservation. 10 EUR or $15 to amend a reservation after the first one.
  • Some hotels charge a “resort fee”, typically $10-$20 a room a night. This rate is paid directly to the hotel and not to Otel.com.
